AGARTALA: The chief of the TIPRA Motha, a new regional party which is ready to give tough competition to the seasoned political parties of Bharatiya Janata Party and Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the upcoming polls in the state has alleged the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has "copied" their election agenda.

Soon after the release of the Sankalp Patra by the Bharatiya Janata Party by the president of the party J P Nadda on Thursday, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma the head of the TIPRA Motha made this allegation.

The local leader used a Hindi proverb in a short audio chip which he uploaded on the Facebook page of party. He mentioned "Today I saw the manifesto of the BJP. They are also talking about things we have been talking about for the last three years. They copied us. We set the agenda, they are today copying us. Chalo, I have no problem. Oonth toh aab pahad ke niche aya hain na. We need to believe (in ourselves)."

The using of the proverb roughly translates to showing someone his or her place, he said that he got the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to think like the TIPRA Motha.

The election manifesto of the Bharatiya Janta Party included several election-related promises including welfare schemes and freebies. Major restructuring and empowerment for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. Promises of greater autonomy and added legislative, executive, administrative and financial powers.

It also promises financial assistance towards eligible families as well as land rights to the local landless people. The promise of a Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Tribal University in the Gandacherra region towards the promotion, research and preservation of the tribal culture and studies. The SD Burman Academy of Performing Arts will also focus at the popularisation of the state's folk dance, music and theatre.

While the main agenda of the TIPRA Motha is the research, preservation and propagation of the local culture, tradition and the overall way of living of the state.
